It’s that time of year again; memberships are now due on 1 January £10 for the basic membership remains the same - £25 for membership and affiliation to England Athletics, this comprises of £10 membership to the club and £15 goes to England Athletics. This entitles you the pay the lower entry fee when entering races, usually a saving of £2. If you do races this could actually work out cheaper

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival takes place on May Bank Holiday weekend, and with a new route showcasing more of Edinburgh's iconic city centre sights, it makes perfect sense to make a club weekend of it and explore what the beautiful city of Edinburgh has to offer!

The fun kicks off on Saturday May 26 at Holyrood Park with a 10k, 5K and four junior races. On Sunday May 27, the Edinburgh Marathon, Edinburgh Half Marathon and team relay start from the heart of Edinburgh City and continues through East Lothian offering stunning views and an
unforgettable running experience.

Devon Freewheelers are a team of 37 volunteer Emergency Vehicle drivers who are dedicated to providing a weekday out of hours service (17.00 – 06.00) and 24/7 weekend service supporting the NHS in delivering essential Blood, Samples, Medication and Donor Breast Milk to hospitals throughout Devon.

Stoke Stampede 10k – Sunday 7 January

Mel competed in the Stoke Stampede today, a 10k undulating road race in Stoke St Gregory. It was a sell out event with 450 registered runners. There was a strong female field and Mel finished 5th lady, and 3rd vet in a time of 42:59. All finishers got a nice medal.

Axmouth Challenge – Sunday 14 January
Five Coasters made the short trip to Seaton for the Axmouth Challenge multi-terrain events, runners could choose from 10, 5, or 3 miles.  This tough event has plenty of hills and mud to keep runners occupied, Simon  was first Coaster home in the 10 miler in 1:24:33, then Laraine  in 1:26:26, Shirley in 1:44:36 claiming 1st vet lady in her age group. Chris and Heidi took on the 5 mile event with Chris finishing in 1:04:46 and Heidi in 1:04:47.  All runners received free bacon rolls, cake and soup for their efforts.

Braunton 10 mile & Travis Perkins 10k – Sunday 21 January
Simon was the only Coaster to venture to North Devon for the Braunton 10 miler. Around 300 runners took part in this popular road race event which took place in awful conditions. Flood water, torrential rain and strong winds really tested runners on this hilly course. Simon who was running this race for the 10th time completed the race in 1:29:15, all runners received a tech T-shirt and medal

Sidford Cross Country 6k – Sunday 28 January

Shirley took part in the Sidford Cross Country 6k, in perfect weather, course fairly flat but thick mud,  and finished in a time of 40:27 and won a gold medal making her South West FV65 Cross Country Champion apparently
