Unfortunatley the Dawlish Coastal Dash has been cancelled for this year only due to too many risk factors. There is very extensive work going on at the Warren this year and there is an expected high tide so there won't be any beach at all!

Ox12 – Saturday 6 May

The mere mention of White Star Running suggests tough or quirky and this certainly lived up to its reputation of quirky, a brilliant fun event.  12 hours to do as many or as few 10k laps you want to do (first lap 12k) in order to get the most amazing bling and goody bag.  Pat and Pam completed 8 miles, Simon completed 13.5 miles. Simon decided to test out a small part of Sunday’s half marathon route!  As well as the 12 hour event the weekend included a 50 mile ultra and half marathon on the Sunday

Ivybridge 10k – Saturday 6 May
As usual a number of Coasters, four in all, took part in the Ivybridge 10k.  A well supported event with lots of people cheering you on.  Mel completed in 43:00, despite getting stich half way round and achieved 2nd in her age group, Andy 44:48, John Adey 46:50 and Sarah 1:01:13.  Mel’s husband Donald actually won the race, very well done to the Brooks family

Crediton Crunch – Sunday 7 May
Two Coasters took part in this event organised by the Crediton Running Network, approximately 6 mile off-road and undulating, Ross completed in 42:39 and Laraine in 55:49

Land and Sea 5k – Sunday 7 May
Carly at this event starting at Orcombe Point, the route went a short way along the promenade then down onto the beach for about 1km before going up the slope and along the prom towards the turning point, then the same route in reverse for the return leg. Carly said the legs were definitely feeling it coming towards the end of the second stretch of beach – despite slow progress when the sand is so soft underfoot Carly came 37th and finished in 28:08

Bristol 10k – Sunday 7 May
Jan and Eric in Bristol along with over 11,000 other runners. Weather conditions were ideal, well organised event and scenic flat course [no hills!]. Eric 48:06 [2nd MV60] with Jan 50:00 [3rd FV60]. A couple of comments from Eric said it was not a race for a pb unless you are an elite runner, also they had to run to the start, which wasn't good preparation [baggage area was down one end away from our start areas]. They used the park & ride system which was very busy but cheap!

Ottery 10k – Sunday 14 May
In lovely sunny conditions and a record sell out field of 301 runners took park in this popular undulating road race around the lanes of Ottery St Mary. Mel finished is a fantastic time of 42:18 and was 4th lady overall and Simon finished in 50:03, all runners received the Otter tech T-shirt and Otter Nurseries shopping bag.

Exeter Marathon – Sunday 21 May
Simon was a lone Coaster at the Exeter marathon, around 400 runners took part with the race starting at Exeter City Football Club and finishing on the Exeter Quay, the race was run on the canals paths along the canal and River Exe. Simon completed the 26.2 miles in 4:24:18; all the runners received a medal and t-shirt.

Clyst Hydon Huff 10k – Sunday 21 May
4 Coasters took part in the Clyst Hydon Huff 10k run; a total of 134 runners took part.  The course could be described as ‘challenging’! Lots of hills and mud. The weather was ideal, not too hot. Great Marshals and lots of cheering support. Hot dogs, cakes and tea galore at the finish. Eric 55:13, Jan 1:02:32, Chris 1:10:04, Tryl 1:18:44

Rock n Roll - Liverpool – Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May
Lots of Coasters, six in all, in Liverpool to take part in the Rock n Roll marathon festival weekend. This fantastic event attracts around 20,000 runners; there is something for everyone from the marathon to half marathon, 5k and mile. The two main races take in all the famous sights such as Penny Lane, the Cavern Club and both football stadiums, China Town. The races start outside the Echo Arena close to the Liver building.

Duncan and Simon took on the half marathon distance with Simon finishing in 1:55:24 and Duncan in 1:59:33.
Freddie was first Coaster home in the 5k in a superb time of 28:11 with dad Duncan hot on his heels in 28:14; Pam was next in, 42:44 and Simon just behind in 42:45, Pat and Corrie next in 50:30.

If that wasn’t enough all six of them took on the mile race after the main races which went around Albert Dock and the Liver Building.  This is the most amazing weekend ever, we had a great time, and the medals are amazing so if you fancy a fun weekend get booked up for next year.

Folkestone 10k – Sunday 27 May
I understand Gill did the Folkestone 10k which went from Folkestone to Hythe and back, flat promenade and traffic free.  I can’t find any further information about this race or results
